New Degree Options Available Spring 2024

 

New Degree Programs Announced

 

Louisburg College will begin offering five new degree options this year! 

In November 2023, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) approved Louisburg College to offer these new programs. These degrees include:

  • Associate of Science in Agricultural Studies

这 program provides students with a foundational understanding of crop production, food production and processing, animal conservation, crop management, and agricultural 业务.  这 program will prepare the student for careers in the agricultural industry by instructing the student on how to properly grow and harvest plants and animals into a sustainable food source for human consumption and for retail sale.

  • Associate of Science in Environmental Science

这 program examines the issues facing the environment to create science-based resolutions.  这 program focuses on understanding and resolving issues by examining the interaction of physical, chemical, and biological factors in the environment, and assessing the impact on organisms, including humans.  

  • Associate of Science in 健康 Science

course of study discusses the fundamentals of caring for people within a wide margin of medical areas. 在这个 program, students will gain real-world skills and knowledge to perform detailed research on various types of illnesses and diseases as well as research concerning critical care for individuals. 

  • Associate of Science in Medical Science

course of study concentrates on the science of health and the workings of the human body.  在这个 program, students will gain real-world skills and knowledge to examine the human body and its functions by studying biology, anatomy and physiology, and chemistry.

  • Associate of Science in Sports Science

这 program uses science to assist with body performance and endurance to prepare for competitions while reducing the possibility of injury.  Sports Science identifies the strengths and weaknesses within a training program to customize it for athletes, non-athletes, and all others in-between. 

These programs are the first new, SACS-approved, stand-alone degrees offered by the College since 1950年代. 学生 can begin applying for and studying in these programs starting in Spring 2024.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is responsible for accrediting institutions of higher education primarily located in eleven states in the southern region of the United States, including North Carolina. 这 is Louisburg College's regional accrediting body.
